We’re thrilled to announce that the RE/MAX of Michigan Region collectively raised $209,980 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2015. This is an amazing 86% increase from the funds raised in 2014. Congratulations on a job well done, on putting your money where the miracles are, and for helping kids all across the state!
Also in 2015, RE/MAX Associates across North America raised more than $9 million for 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Through the Miracle Home and Miracle Property programs, offices and agents across the United States and Canada invested in their communities by making donations on behalf of their customers to local children’s hospitals. Donations help fund pediatric medical equipment and treatments, healthcare services and charitable care. In addition to Miracle Home and Miracle Property contributions, RE/MAX offices and agents generate donations through golf tournaments, benefit dinners, auctions and other community fundraisers. For many agents, these donations are very personal, helping kids in their own families and neighborhoods.
Shown in the photo above are RE/MAX, LLC CEO Dave Liniger and Camryn Akers, the Miracle Child who represented CMNH at this year’s R4 conference in Las Vegas. Dave presented Camryn with an American Girl doll on stage at the Opening General Session, much to her delight. Camryn was a delightful ambassador for CMNH, reminding attendees why we raise money for such a worthy cause.
3 weeks ago my husband Bill had total knee replacement surgery and was doing relatively well. At his 2 week followup appointment we went in to have his staples removed. I dropped him off at home around noon to ice his knee and rest and went dashing around on errands. I called him at 1:00 to see if he wanted anything to eat, and he said he wasn’t feeling well. He may just have been very tired from going out after surgery for the first time, but at 3:00 he thought we should go in to the emergency room to be checked. At 3:45 in E.R. he had an EKG and 20 Dr’s and nurses came flying into the room. He was having a heart attack. At 4:15 he was in the cardiac cath lab having a blockage cleared. Bill didn’t have big clues like crushing chest pain or pain in his left arm, just some general “discomfort”. He is doing well now, and having experienced this, we want you to know that if you, or someone you love has that nagging thought that something is wrong, listen to your body and please go to the ER, or better yet, call 911. It may turn out to be nothing, but you may just be having something serious happening, and time is of the essence.

Robbie and I both live in Crystal Springs and we are proud to be a part of N2 Publishing’s monthly neighborhood magazine “Life on the Course”. Their publications are found in many areas of the United States, including their first publication in Cascade and we are happy that they chose Crystal Springs as their 2nd West Michigan location. The magazine includes such things such as social event information specific to the residents, local business information, pictures, personal stories and articles. Various events hosted by the publication are designed to strengthen the neighborhood and increase each member of the community’s circle of friends. Robbie is the social event coordinator and I am a writer for “Home of the Month” and articles relating to neighbors choices for charity awareness. Naomi Riley is our publisher and has become our friend. And of course, as 2RealEstateAgentsAndACity, we love marketing and selling homes in Crystal Springs as well as all areas of metro Grand Rapids.
Crystal Springs also has a Facebook page called Crystal Life on the Course, so if you’re on Facebook, “LIKE” the page and help all of us make it grow. See you around the area. Cheers!!!
Karen was able to join other Crystal Springs residents by being treated to a wonderful time at the “Kids and Cookies Valentines event” compliments of Marjoree Steele of Bekins. Kids enjoyed smoothies, decorating and eating yummy Stained Glass Window Cookies, and Sour Cream Cutout Cookies while adults took home Peppermint Biscotti for morning coffee. If you’re a Crystal Springs resident and missed it, be sure to watch your “Life on the Course” magazine for future events.
Pretty much all the schools are closed due to the snowstorm, and Karen and her hubby are basking in the sun in St. Thomas. Meanwhile, I’m snug as a bug in a rug working from home, catching up on paperwork, and cleaning up my home office. Finally making the time for my post-holidays housekeeping, I found myself getting a little emotional as I looked for the perfect place to display a gift I received last night.
I was just overwhelmed with thinking about how much I love what I do, how blessed I am to be in this business, and how fortunate I am to be partners with Karen, who loves what she does as well and who shares my same values. I believe a person really cannot be successful in this business if they don’t truly care about their clients and their families as well as let them see who you really are during the process. I find myself so sad at every closing fearing I won’t ever see or chat again with these wonderful people whom I’ve gotten so close to….but for some reason, we manage to stay in contact. This business is all about the people and the rewarding connections we make!
Last night I was at a client’s home reviewing some listing changes. When I got there all five kids came running downstairs to greet me. The youngest just turned seven, and according to his mother, dressed up for my visit (he was even sporting a Bruno Mars hat to finish off his outfit). This beautiful child had the biggest smile on his face as he hid something behind his back. “Go ahead and give it to her,” his mother whispered. Once he got that go-ahead he eagerly handed me a framed picture of him and his brother and sisters that was taken over Christmas during their trip to Florida. I cannot tell you enough how difficult it was to not cry…..I was so touched. I thought to myself, “Dang, it’s a great day to be a REALTOR.”
